RARE Candy Making Machine Paperweight or StatueHeavy
bronze paperweight or statue, possibly a souvenir from a crank machine that produced candy. Mounted on black marble base. Weight is 4.8 pounds. It is 7 inches high including the marble base. No chips or cracks.
Souvenir was likely made from one of a pair of cylinders from a THOMAS MILLS and BROTHERS candy making machine. Similar objects have been seen as a mated pair in a machine that looks like a hand crank wringer.
Drop Roller Candy Machines were a low cost solution to producing die-formed hard candy sweets. The machine can be used to produce either solid single colour candies or two-colour layered candies. A set of rollers with the candy design engraved into them continuously forms a ribbon of candy into the required shape.
This single roller statue or paperweight is from such a machine and is made of brass. It displays very nicely.
A rare find and perfect for the candy or confection or confectionery collector or the sweets executive in your life!
