There is one small chip on the bottom/back edge that penetrates the jar making a 3/7" hole (see last photo)...this is hard to see even if you are looking for it. It is not visible while the jar is displayed unless you turn the jar upside down and look carefully. No other chips, cracks or substantial scratches on jar. Overall from a display/appearance perspective, I'd rate this jar at 90 on a 100 point scale but you are the final judge so please review my high definition photographs to fully appreciate the condition.

    About this Item:
If you are a collector of Frito-Lay or Depression Era glass Store Display jars, then this could be the centerpiece of your collection!  You may already have "Lays" jars, but do you have a jar with the ORIGINAL name of Herman Lay's company?
In 1932, twenty-three-year-old Herman Lay started working as a potato chip route saleman for the Barrett Food Products company, the Atlanta manufacturer of Gardner's Potato Chips. By 1939 he owned the company and renamed it the H.W. Lay & Company but he continued to use the Gardner's name on his products until 1944!
These Gardner glass countertop display jars with hinged lids are pretty rare.  Although the Gardner Salted Peanut jars come up for sale once or twice a year, I've only seen one of these lidded jars sold in the past five years.
This is an attractive, large, heavy glass counter top display jar.  It displays incredibly well.
Measures about 10"tall.  7 1/2" wide  10" deep.  It has a hinged aluminum lid.
This clear jar has white lettering that reads:  " ALWAYS IN GOOD TASTE" on a banner across the top.  This was the Gardner tagline/logo.
It also has "Gardner" in script, followed by "GoB-Tweens 5¢"
Beneath that is "BARRETT FOOD PRODUCTS CO. INC. FACTORIES ALL OVER DIXIE"
Note:  'GoB-Tweens' was a catch-all phrase used for crackers, nuts, cakes and other items meant to appeal to customers who needed a snack between meals.  Frito-Lay uses the same phrase even today.
