    Description

Victory Glass Co. produced this through the 1920's. The mould was formerly a West Bros. Co. product which was moved to V.G. at the company's inception 1919. The mould took on modifications which include foot embossing and a revision to foot form. West Bros. may have originally aquired the mould from Gillander Glass Co.. Victory Glass literature in form of postcard sized trade cards depict this being among their product lines. I have had several this lantern and with those having surviving candy it is what VG used in larger novelties well into the late 1930's. Candy was often packed with a waxed paper crumple jammed in neck to offer a seal. Wax slugs are sometimes revealed in the empty lanterns which may also be related to sealing methods. This example has some red lacquer finish on globe and a gilt foot. No damage.
